If you’re a nonprofit leader, grant writer or you work for a nonprofit team — I’m about to introduce you to your new best friend, an AI chatbot called “chatGPT”.

Since discovering this tool over the holidays (thanks TikTok), I’ve found myself up at 3am inputting every possible “to-do” list item that my nonprofit has been putting off for months, including this stack of Letters of Intent (LOIs) and grant proposals that our USA team of two (including me) haven’t had the bandwidth to get to.

In the past six days, I’ve finished writing complex grant proposals in the time it would’ve taken me to write a single donor thank you note. It seems almost too good to be true — a FREE tool to streamline all of your copywriting tasks? The truth is, other industries have been using this tool for ages and now this AI is only getting better.

With the help of my buddy, chatGPT, let me give you a few examples of how this tool can help your nonprofit with your grant writing process for free…

Improving proposal writing and review processes:

Writing and reviewing proposals can be a time-consuming and labor-intensive process for nonprofits. However, chatGPT can help streamline this process by assisting with research and the creation of proposal drafts.

For example, chatGPT can help by:

  • Identifying relevant funding sources and guidelines
  • Gathering data and information needed for the proposal
  • Generating a rough draft of the proposal based on input from the organization

There are several benefits to using chatGPT for proposal processes, including:

  • Improved efficiency: As mentioned, chatGPT can help automate tasks and save time and resources that would otherwise be spent on manual research and drafting.
  • Incorporation of data and insights from previous proposals: ChatGPT can analyze data and insights from previous proposals to identify patterns and trends that can be used to improve future proposals.
  • Improved accuracy and consistency: ChatGPT can help ensure that proposals are accurate and consistent, as it can be programmed to check for errors and inconsistencies in the text.

Streamlining grant writing processes:

Like proposal writing, grantwriting can be a time-consuming and labor-intensive process for nonprofits. However, chatGPT can help streamline this process by assisting with grant research and the creation of grant applications.

For example, chatGPT can help by:

  • Identifying relevant grant opportunities
  • Gathering data and information needed for the grant application
  • Generating a rough draft of the grant application based on input from the organization

There are several benefits to using chatGPT for grantwriting, including:

  • Increased efficiency: As with proposal writing, chatGPT can help automate tasks and save time and resources that would otherwise be spent on manual research and drafting.
  • Ability to track and analyze grant application data: ChatGPT can help organizations track and analyze data from previous grant applications to identify patterns and trends that can be used to improve future grant applications.
  • Improved accuracy and consistency: ChatGPT can help ensure that grant applications are accurate and consistent, as it can be programmed to check for errors and inconsistencies in the text.

Overall, chatGPT can be a valuable tool for nonprofits looking to streamline their LOI, proposal, and grantwriting processes. By using chatGPT, organizations can save time and resources, improve the efficiency of these processes, and better serve their communities.

So what are you waiting for? You have important work to do! Find your favorite chatGPT tool or reach out and let’s work together!
